Inspired by the Sailboat Metaphor (a “halyard” is the main rope used to hoist the sail of a sailboat) our name invokes the figurative act of “raising our sails” in pursuit of growth. We integrate insights from applied positive, humanistic, and existential social sciences research into programs that help people heed Maslow's call to "step forward into growth." Our mission is to radically expand both the quantity and quality of opportunities people have to transform themselves, their organizations, and their communities.
